Reclaiming your animal from APARC
To make the process easier, please review the Responsible Animal Ownership Bylaw, specifically focusing on Licensing requirements and Animal Control Operations. Licensing and impound fees can be found on Schedule A and C, respectively.
You may reclaim your animal during open hours.
You will need to present photo identification to reclaim your animal, as well as proof the animal is yours. Ownership can be established with a bill from a local veterinarian, licensing information, or bill of sale with description of the animal. Proof of Spay/Neuter may be required.
We will charge a daily care fee in addition to all city imposed impound fees. If your animal required veterinary attention, all charges must be paid.
All animals that reside in Medicine Hat must be licensed (this includes having a tag on the animal) before being reclaimed, no exceptions. We can license your animal at our facility, as well as provide a replacement tag if it has been lost.
If you and your animal reside outside of Medicine Hat, you will need to bring proof of address in the form of an ID, or utility bill.
