Dog Adoption Questionnaire

If you’re interested in adopting man’s best friend, you came to the right place! Adopting a dog can seem like it is a daunting process, but at APARC, we make it easy!

Step 1: Do your research! This includes making sure you are prepared for a furry addition to the family. Also look into whether a puppy, adult, or senior dog is more suitable for you. By knowing what you are looking for before you come visit, including breed, size, and temperament, you can be better prepared to ask our staff which dogs may fit what you are looking for.

Step 2: Get the necessities! Things like leashes, collars, food bowls, and toys are required for every dog. Hold off on things like food until you’ve made your choice in pet, and ask our shelter staff if the dog you have selected has any preference with certain foods.

Step 3: Fall in love! You can check out our dogs here, but we much prefer you come in and meet all the dogs face to face!

Step 4: Once you find a dog you want to adopt, let our staff know by clicking the “Apply to Adopt” button at the bottom of the pets description.

Step 5: Take your lovely new dog home! We will send you away with a food sample to mix into whichever food you choose. Talk to our staff about how to integrate dogs to a home, normal adjustment behaviours, and what to look out for in the first few days. We can make sure you have all your questions answered before you walk out our doors with your new dog!
